I have a bar that is topped with Poly resin (1/4 inch) can I remove the resin without damaging the wood?

I would prefer to not have to sand down the poly resin if at all possible. but if that is the only way...

Certainly SANDING would not only be tedious and messy, but labor intensive. It would almost have to be GROUND off.

Any other method would probably be more challenging.

Part of the issue, and not knowing the species of wood or your thoughts to just start over, with a new top, is that the POLY, not only covers the wood, but was likely absorbed by the wood, to a degree, and bonded to it like any adhesive would.
